Terry Horn - More Poems
while
i am here
while
it is fun
before
someone else takes
over
i know you
i thought so
watch yourself change
blood or air or
both
money in the vault
the car without brakes
order a cure
the make believe tomorrow
a gold mine filled
with swimmers
and an endless
sky
it is not
over
until
the baby”s fed
and
the diaper is
changed
crying then laughing
then
eating
a sandwich
the diagnosis is
alarming
like light
on
a fire truck
will you
order a pizza
and
have it delivered
there’s time you know
for that
talk to me
like
a dog or
canary
like
a 2nd grade teacher
or
a nasa
engineer
an artist
or
just a guy
drunk
in a chair
just
a girl
in
a closet
trying
to write a
poem
god was here
paying me a visit
honored really
that you would
take the time so
please
do not leave
stay
you can work from
here
sitting bull
advancing
being his wife
al capone would
wave at my grandfather
on his way to church
pocahontas was a
true story
and ants live in
colonies
you would think by
now they would
have invented
bullets and bombs
buddha found the
right tree otherwise
i wonder
as jesus christ gathers
his 12 apostles
for
a last supper
i am lucky today
i am
quit that
overthrow yourself
with love and
kindness
they laugh because
i live a very sheltered
life free from
everything
this
compound will hold
mostly scientists
this one with windows
holding art
the nice one
with
water fountains
lodges banking
there will be
movies
showing
warm days spent
walking
on the beach
almost
went
to the store to
buy some
strawberries and
plums
she was on the
corner holding a
sign had a bowl
of water for
the dog wearing scarf
the guy who
i guess
owned the corner
told her
you can’t stay here
so
she took the dog
and her sign and
went
somewhere else
left me to wonder
it’s a madhouse
and wherever you and
your dog wearing scarf
went
i am with you
